Minister Search

The Blue River (MO) Church of Christ, a thirty-year-old congregation, is seeking a full-time minister for preaching, evangelism, and other potential ministry opportunities.  The congregation, located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, a growing southeastern suburb of Kansas City, is served by four elders, four deacons, a family life minister, and a complement of ministry leaders and support staff.  Two Sunday morning worship services draw a total attendance of approximately 200 members.  Submit letters of interest, resumes, references, and CD’s or online links to sermons to the elders at Blue River Church of Christ, 221 NE Woods Chapel Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064, or email  Additional details on the position are available on the church website (

Additional Information

Personal and spiritual qualities desired:

  • A heart for people and ministry
  • A passion for personal evangelism
  • A view of ministry that is Christ-centered and Bible-centered
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to model Christian living to the congregation and community

Training and experience desired:

  • Five years of experience and some formal theological training preferred

Responsibilities (details are flexible):

  • Preach and collaborate with the family life minister in preaching, evangelism, and small group efforts
  • Teach Bible classes in rotation with other teachers
  • Enhance our visitation program and emphasize local outreach
  • Work with the elders to discern and to lead into God’s vision for the Kingdom work we’ve been called and equipped to fulfill


  • Commensurate with experience and training

Additional details:

  • A written statement of one’s “theology” of ministry (one’s biblical understanding of preaching, evangelism, the church, etc.) would be encouraged along with the resume, references, and access to sermon videos
  • A vision for how technology can enhance evangelism would be an asset
  • An understanding on the level of spousal participation
