We are seeking a full time Preacher/Minister who has an in-depth knowledge of the Word, a love for the Church, a love for lost souls and a passion to preach and teach the Word of God. We are a small and growing congregation in the beautiful San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado.

Pagosa Springs Church of Christ is a small congregation in small tourist town (pop. about 1758), located in Archuleta County Colorado (pop. 13,473) and is surrounded by 2 million acres of National Forest, including a ski resort. We are essentially in a mission field with great potential.

The Church currently consists of about 15 regular members, and about 10-12 members who need encouragement since the Covid epidemic. Our past preacher of 18 years retired and moved away 3 years ago. We currently do not have elders or deacons and so men of the congregation direct the operations of the church.

We typically host VBS every summer with a large contingent of Woodward Oklahoma Church of Christ members helping each year.

Job requirements and duties: All candidates must:

  • Be a male, having been baptized into the Kingdom for at least 3 years or more.
  • Have at least 2 years degree from a recognized Church of Christ affiliated Bible College, &/or at least 2 years preaching experience under a local Church eldership or in a preacher training tutelage program. Preaching during one’s college or training counts. (Other training and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the Word of God & a strong desire to gain further understanding by continual study of the Word.
  • Be friendly, gregarious and have a love for people & a desire to save lost souls.
  • Must have a passion & desire to preach and teach the Word of God both to members of the Church and the community
  • Be able to create an annual lesson plan for both preaching and adult bible study in coordination with direction from the men of the congregation.
  • Able to relate to and to teach children and help teach during VBS.
  • Have the ability to help counsel church members from a Biblical perspective. (Professional Counselor training is not required.)
  • Be self-motivated and a self-starter and to be able to build written daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly schedules and goals and to continually work towards those goals, and to be able to give account of their progress in meeting their goals. The leadership of the congregation will give guidance and approve schedules.
  • Be able to prepare and deliver at least two sermons per week and to teach class as needed.
  • Be able meet people in the community and set up one on one teaching with lost souls.

 

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications and is negotiable. We do not currently offer health care benefits.

Part time position will also be considered.
