Core Responsibilities
1. Preaching & Teaching
•Deliver scripturally sound, well-prepared sermons for Sunday AM/PM assemblies and teach weekly Bible classes, including Wednesday evening classes (alternating with other teachers)
•Preach the whole counsel of God with clarity, conviction, and balance—avoiding denominational/ecumenical ambiguity and teaching firmly from Scripture (2 Tim. 4:1–5).
•Present the Truth with love and sincerity.
2. Member Engagement
•Maintain a consistent schedule of outreach to members—visiting homes, hospitals, shut-ins, and families in need; follow up with visitors and evangelistic inquiries.
•Respond sensitively to congregational joys, tragedies, and spiritual challenges, shaping lessons when appropriate to strengthen the flock.
•Assist in counseling members within safe, ethical boundaries, referring cases to professionals when needed.
•Maintain some weekly office presence and be accessible to the congregation.
3. Evangelism & Community Outreach
•Lead and participate in personal evangelism efforts, Bible studies, and community contacts.
•Support outreach initiatives targeting younger generations, digitally-connected audiences, and local families.
•Teach prospects the gospel plan of salvation, including hearing, believing, repenting, confessing Christ, and baptism by immersion for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:3–5).
4. Collaboration with Eldership & Ministry/Admin Staff
•Work under the authority of the elders, supporting their shepherding work and communicating openly, respectfully, and consistently.
•Participate in ministry planning, evaluation processes, and regular coordination meetings.
•Assist deacons and ministry leaders as needed and help develop volunteers.
•Maintain orderly reporting habits, tracking activities, progress, and spiritual engagement.
5. Doctrinal Integrity & Soundness
The minister is expected to:
•Affirm the inspiration, inerrancy, and authority of Scripture.
•Teach and model New Testament worship without instrumental music.
•Uphold the autonomy of the local congregation.
•Denounce ecumenism while upholding the attributes of the Bride of Christ.
•Teach clearly on baptism, the Lord’s Supper, morality, church discipline, and Christian living.
•Maintain positions consistent with the Word of Truth (sound in faith) including a proper defense of the work of the Holy Spirit, cessation of miracles, eschatology (opposing pre-millennialism), God’s plan for gender roles, marriage/divorce/remarriage (Matt. 19:9), and Christian ethics (blameless in practice)—including alcohol and other personal conduct.
•Demonstrate the ability to articulate doctrine with Scripture and avoid speculative teaching that undermines biblical clarity, becoming a cause of stumbling for the weak.
6. Administrative & Practical Duties
•Maintain a weekly work schedule consistent with full-time ministry, including study, visitation, sermon prep, and office hours.
•Participate in congregational activities, fellowships, community service, youth, and senior events as needed.
•Assist in planning special events, hosting, and cooperating with other faithful congregations, gospel meetings, seminars, or workshops.

The Haven Church of Christ, in Haven, KS, is looking for an individual to lead our community outreach. This individual needs to have a love for the Lord and for the lost, along with strong Christian values. He also needs to be outgoing and enjoy talking to others and interacting with the community. We are looking for someone that is willing to move to Haven, preferably with school-age children. The successful candidate needs to be self-supportive. We will offer a monthly housing allowance of $1,500 a month or $18,000 a year. A stipend of $300 per preaching Sunday or $4,800 a year, will be added, bringing the total to $23,800 a year, to start. We have the hope that this position will turn into a full-time minister position within a few years, along with a full-time salary. The Holly Hill church of Christ is looking for a Children & Youth Minister. Come be a vital part of our congregation! We’ve been growing quickly and need more support in ministering to our young people.
Located in Frankfort, the capital of Kentucky with a home-town feel, you’ll be mere minutes away from two large cities, Louisville and Lexington, and within a not-too-far drive from Nashville, Cincinnati or Indianapolis. There is no shortage of things to do or places to see.
We’re looking for someone with a humble and honest heart, who genuinely desires to see God’s Kingdom grow and souls to be nurtured. The opportunities are endless with all the new families we have been welcoming, and we need someone who shares a love not only for the Lord and His Word, but also for souls. You must be good with kids and eager to help create events and an environment to spiritually nurture our youth and help them be connected within the church family.
Children and Youth Minister/Coordinator Duties
Planning and Execution
Meet with key people and develop a quarterly calendar for youth and children’s events.
Oversee and work with the congregation on planning and execution of planned activities.
Work with Mike Mayes on planning and execution of Vacation Bible School.
Teaching
Teach a children/youth class on Wednesday and Sunday.
Work with teachers and Elijah (our preacher) to strengthen the curriculum.
Oversee and lead young men’s training and oversee young women’s training.
Oversee and lead Carpenter’s Kids.
Preaching/teaching adults as assigned on occasion.
Administrative / Leadership
Be the key person for all things children and youth. He would chair the Youth Committee.
Have administrative responsibilities.
All other duties as assigned.
Be under the authority of the Evangelistic Committee. David Jones, a member of this committee, would be the liaison. Robert Roach and Jeff Jones would mentor him and guide him in spiritual formation. He would work closely with Elijah Bell, the minister. They would have one regularly scheduled meeting per week and more if needed.
